On August 6th 2013, Israel Hernandez known as "Reefa" by his friends, was teasered to death by members of the Miami Police Department. The reason, he was painting a graffiti. 

This weekend the community comes together to celebrate Israel's life and raise money for his family to confront D.C. lawmakers. 222 Worldwide is putting the event together. Support the cause!

Photographer Carlos Álvarez Montero, member of La Family Dub will be featuring his work at this exhibition.

A national traveling exhibition visualizing, through twelve of the most talented photographic voices working internationally, the U.S. Latino experience today.

This exhibition, produced by SPAIN arts & culture and the Embassy of Spain in Washington DC is supported by AECIDand Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Spain.

For LATINO/US Cotidiano, the curator Claudi Carreras selected established and emerging photographers of Latino descent who embrace theme and also excel at their craft: Carlos Alvárez Montero, Sol Aramendi, Katrina Marcelle d’Autremont, Calé, Ricardo Cases, Livia Corona, Héctor Mata, Karen Miranda, Dulce Pinzón, Susana Raab, Stefan Ruiz, and Gihan Tubbeh.

The Hispanic population in the U.S. has reached the 50 million mark, making the Latino community the largest minority in the country for the first time. One out of every six Americans is now of Hispanic origin, an impressive social transformation with enormous political, economic, and cultural consequences. Outdated stereotypes, racial profiles, and past cultural archetypes no longer accurately reflect a nation enriched by a growing and diverse population. But what does it look like today?

To better understand this culturally shifting phenomenon, SPAIN arts & culture commissioned Claudi Carreras, one of the foremost experts on IberoAmerican Latino photography, to research and gather the strongest photographic voices working today on issues of Latino identity. According to Carreras, although many artists work on Latino issues, we wanted to focus on artists that challenge the identity of the Latino community in the States.

For LATINO/US Cotidiano, Carreras selected established and emerging photographers of Latino descent who embrace the theme and also excel at their craft. The exhibition and photobook includes noted artists Carlos Alvárez Montero, Sol Aramendi, Katrina Marcelle d’Autremont, Calé, Ricardo Cases, Livia Corona, Héctor Mata, Karen Miranda, Dulce Pinzón, Susana Raab, Stefan Ruiz, and Gihan Tubbeh.

Es hora de ir a Tailandia, donde suena y huele a reggae. La primera imagen es la portada de "Thailand Reggae Ska Paradise", una recopilación de artistas de reggae y ska, entre ellos los Kai Jo Brothers. Explorando un poco más nos encontramos con Thairastaman, otro artista de la escena reggae que al parecer se mueve entre Tailandia y Suecia. Denle un escuchada y transportense a las playas tailandesas en donde quiera que estén. - Time to go to Thailand, where sounds and smells like reggae music. The first image is the cover of "Thailand Reggae Ska Paradise", a compilation of reggae and ska artists, The Kai Jo Brothers are one of them. Exploring a little more we found Thairastaman, another reggae artist that looks he´s making music between Thailand and Sweden. Listen and take your mind to the thai beaches wherever you are.

Fue una noche de gozadera a ritmo de surf, psicodelia, mezcal, fotos brutales y Blue Demon Jr. Salud! - Some weeks ago we were invited by the Mexican Cultural Institute of Miami to DJ at the opening of "Lucha Libre" photo exhibit by Mexican photographer Lourdes Grobet. It was a night of surf music, psicodelia, mezcal, killer photos and Blue Demon Jr. Salud!
