Banksy caught on action?
Fans are not sure if this camera phone photo is real and Banky's spokesman declined to say he is the man in this picture that shows his latest work on the side of a building in Bethnal Green, East London. It would be cool to talk to Banksy in person, but keep seeing his work invading the world is enough for us. The World According Banksy

Melomanos y Coleccionistas Salseros
Some weeks ago we got a bulletin from Spam All Stars about the First Reunion of Salsa Music Colectors in Florida. Music from 65 and 75, Conjunto Universal performing live (we never heard this band before, but they throw a great set of classic salsa hits), Izzie Sanabria aka "Mr. Salsa" and Andy Harlow among the special guests. So, we decided to go and salsabadear for a while.

World Car-Free Day
Every September 22, people across the globe get together to swear off their cars - if only for one day - in a collective reminder that we don't have to accept car-dominated societies, cities, or personal lives. Since its earliest incarnations in the 1970s and '80s, WORLD CAR-FREE DAY has grown into a massive global celebration of human-centric communities and people-powered transportation.
Car-Free Day 2007 could turn out to be the biggest yet. For the first time, China's government is hopping on board, with official events talking place in more than 100 cities, including Beijing and Shanghai. Officials will reportedly be trading in their famed black sedans for public transportation, and some roads will be closed to private cars.
As the world tunes in to the fact that the climate is heating up, this is the perfect opportunity to take the heat off the planet, and put it on city planners and politicians to give priority to cycling, walking and public transport, instead of oil-hungry automobiles.

El Cantante
It was hard, but finally we just saw "El Cantante" last week with the "super hot Latin couple" J-Lo and Marc Anthony. According to what we know and we've heard about Hector Lavoe, the film is just a bad try to bring El Cantante to the big screen. And we are not saying this because of the junky scenes you see in the entire movie which a bunch of people criticized, even Willie Colon, you can check his opinion about the movie on his website. More than that, is seeing this business couple in the screen trying to represent the talent of a person like Hector Lavoe, we just don't buy it, J-Lo in her roll of Hector's wife (Puchi) supossedly narrating some parts of the story to the director. Then the chronological errors and some important parts of the real story edited, Tito Allen and Willie Colon refered to this as well, these two salseros that also lived that era and were very close to Lavoe. And finally, J-Lo was one of the producers. No more comments.
And by the way Senor Willie Colon, we heard that interview where someone asked you if you used to do drugs with Hector Lavoe, what the fuck they care, obviously you didn't accept it, but you know what, we don't care about that, you are and will be a music icon, un grande de la salsa.
GOCENLO! Check out the afro-tromobones!

NaCo Meets Macy's & Macy's Gets Fire
After NaCo's big success in Mexico, the Mexican apparel company now is trying to break into the US Hispanic market. NaCo (a Mexican slang term for lower tackiness) is already at Macy's, a "nice" retail store chain. But the craziest thing here is that one of Naco's t-shirt with the slogan "Brown is the new white" created some reactions in conservative anti-immigrations websites generating e-mails to Macy's threatening a boycott and online rants about racism and immigrants trying to take over America. Some others thought this might offend some members of the Hispanic community. Actually, Fox did a story check it out! Then Macy's pulled the t-shirt and NaCo is almost sold out of this shirt.

Finally! Collie Buddz's "Come Around" Hits Stores Today
In a couple of parties some people have been asking, "hey, who sings that song?". No idea when we mentioned the name of Collie Buddz. Well, as of today we are pretty sure everyone knows who this Bermudian friend is and if not, pick up a copy of his new album and a copy of The Fader Magazine #47 where he features again, besides other cool artists such as Bonde do Role, Lil Wayne and M.I.A.
This song is not in the album but is definately a cool tune from Mr. Collie Buddz, check it out!

Pics La Family Dub & Richard Blair from Sidestepper @ Circa28
Back in February La Family Dub & Richard Blair from Sidestepper throw a DJ set @ Circa28 in Miami, FL. It was a night where the crowd shaked their booties with different rhythms, boogaloo, dancehall, cumbia, afrobeat. Here are some pics from that night.
